Cabot standard #3 Student chooses and evaluates a range of subject matter, symbols and ideas.

b. Use and understand the meaning of subjects, themes, and symbols and how they communicate meaning in art works.

When I look at my portrait I can see that my directional lighting is off. The light is coming from the right side so that should be the lightest part of the painting, but the left side is the same brightness which shows the medium only light and dark.

I only used watercolors and magazine cut outs. I like the way it turned out it makes my face look like a puzzle. I like how my hair came out with the different tints of brown. I did this by adding or taking away water, I made it so I can see the part in my hair.

My background, besides the cut outs and my shirt, is only black. I did this so I could match it with my nose and eyebrows on my portrait.

I think I did a very good job choosing the images to represent different aspects of myself. Snowboarding is what I love. I added a few images on my face, a snow boarder on my eyebrow and another to look like an earing. The two on the sides help shape my face , I think it looks good with blue up against the yellow and it helps break up the black.
